Introduction

This simulator shows how different investment choices could affect the average water bill.

As you move the sliders, you will see how possible changes in costs may increase or decrease the estimated quarterly bill. These changes help illustrate how future spending and investment needs may affect customer bills.

To begin, please enter the amount of your current quarterly water bill below.

If you are not sure of the exact amount, you can enter an estimate and use the table below as a reference.

Customer type Average quarterly bill
Small households (1-2 people) with low water use - e.g. minimal garden watering - apartment or townhouse, water saving devices used in the house $230
Small households (1-3 people) with fairly low water use e.g. a small garden, average laundry use $260
Families (2-4 people) with houses on smaller blocks, with average water use $300
Larger households (3-5+ people) in houses with very high water use e.g. large garden, pool multiple showers, and laundry $400+

This simulator does not predict your future water bill. It provides an indication of the possible size of bill changes based on the investment choices shown in this exercise and an average household bill. Actual water bills may differ. Final bills will depend on the services South East Water proposes, the actual costs of delivering those services, and the prices approved by the Essential Services Commission. The results shown in this exercise are illustrative only and are designed to help understand how different spending priorities may affect customer bills.
